BREEAM Excellent - Full design and build of mechanical and electrical services to the new SmartLIFE Low carbon building consisting of three floors, which provides facilities for renewable technology workshops, teaching spaces, offices and generalamenities & plantroom to promote the use of low and zero carbon technologies in building fabric and the building services and develop learning resources. Mechanical Services included provision of incoming gas,& water, LTHW Heating including Mini-CHP Unit, Solar Thermal Water Heating and high-efficiency Gas-fired boiler to provide top-up and back-up to CHP & Solar Thermal Heating system, hot & cold water service, mechanical ventilation including Natural Ventilation, air-conditioning cooling provided by hot-water fired absorption chiller.
Electrical Services include incoming electricity supply into a FITT facility to allow the college to export excess electricity generated by the PV Cells, Micro CHP etc, electrical distribution, lighting & emergency lighting, small power, fire /intruder/disabled toilet alarms, voice & data wiring and lightning protection. |
