Central St Giles
29 July 2010

The Central Saint Giles development has attracted much attention since the red, orange, yellow, green and grey ceramic facades began to appear. The striking new mixed use development in the West End of London comprises of 400,000 sq ft of flexible Grade A commercial office space, a selection of retail units and private and affordable accommodation - all designed around a new public piazza.

The building structure is set out over 10 floors, plus a single level lower ground floor with roof areas incorporating ‘green roof’ designs to support wildlife in the local area.

The specification for the office area is designed to a Category A standard, based on a fully flexible air-conditioned environment. The energy efficient design has achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, incorporating biomass boilers, rainwater harvesting and cooling tower water recycling, to benefit a reduction in energy consumption.

Briggs & Forrester were responsible for the co-ordination, installation and commissioning of the M & PH Building Services for the office areas and the shell services to the accommodation and retail units.
