Health & Safety

The Briggs & Forrester Group regards its health and safety obligations as a core business principle. From our Group Board of Directors through to our site teams and operatives, we are fully committed to creating an incident and injury free working environment throughout our businesses which has resulted in our accident statistics remaining below the industry standard year on year.

We believe that by treating health and safety as a fundamental part of our business, the Briggs & Forrester Group is intent on making itself the company of choice for stakeholders by not only meeting our legal, moral and social responsibilities but by exceeding them.

Our culture aims to nurture and develop the experiences and capabilities of individuals, managers, project teams and by doing so encouraging all our employees to continually improve their own safety understanding and performance.

Our efforts for achieving this high level of health and safety have been recognised by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), with fourteen Prestigious Safety Awards including a Bronze Award in 2003, Gold Awards from 2004 – 2007 and Gold Medal Awards from 2008 - 2012 and in 2016. We have also been awarded the RoSPA President's Award from 2013 - 2016.

In October 2011 Combined Energy Solutions Ltd, a Briggs & Forrester Group Company, was assessed by the BSI and attained BS OHSAS 18001:2007 accreditation. In December 2015 the remainder of the Briggs and Forrester Group was assessed by BM Trada and also attained the OHSAS 18001:2007 accreditation.

We also hold Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) Accreditations with HVCA / BM Trada, Constructionline, Contractors Health & Safety Scheme (CHAS), EXOR and Safe-Contractor. We also hold Accreditations with Achilles (Building Confidence) and Achilles (UVDB Verify).

In 2016 we introduced a behaviourial based health and safety campaign across the Group - Our Site Our Safety Our Lives. The aim of the campaign is to encourage everyone, on site and in our offices, and across our suppliers, contractors and customers, to work together to ensure a duty of care to themselves and those around them. The message emphasises how we value the wellbeing of everyone we work with.
